Dear Bride and Groom,

Congratulations on your engagement and soon to come wedding day! We are delighted that you are considering having your wedding at Pikes Peak Christian Church. The Pastors and staff are excited about your wedding day, as you declare your love for one another in the covenant of marriage.

To keep within the beliefs and policies of the church, we have set some guidelines to ensure the successful planning of your wedding. These guidelines summarize our standards and are designed to assure your wedding will be a beautiful, holy event that you will remember and treasure.

God’s plan for marriage is an exclusive, life-long covenant between a man and a woman, establishing a mutually supportive relationship that reflects God’s love for His Church. Marriage provides the framework for relational intimacy, sexual fulfillment, and raising children.

Because of our belief that a biblical marriage is between a man and a woman, we do not perform or permit the church facility to be used for sanctioning same-sex marriages. Since our government has a broader definition of marriage, we encourage same-sex couples to find a venue and legal authority that can accommodate their request.

Weddings are always a joyous occasion, but more importantly weddings at Pikes Peak Christian Church are a spiritual celebration in which the bride and groom seek God’s blessing on their union.  The meaning of your wedding will be deepened and strengthened by the reverence and godliness of your ceremony.

The Pastoral Care Department at Pikes Peak Christian Church will be happy to help you plan your wedding according to your dreams!  We are here to answer your questions and offer suggestions as needed.  Our goal is to help you plan a wedding that reflects the wonderful love that God has given you.  We encourage you to thoroughly prepare for both the wedding day and the life you are starting together.

Please take your time in reviewing the following information.  When you are ready, we will be here to serve you.

Congratulations on your special day,

Pastor Rick

 Wedding Guidelines

  • The couple needs to verify with the Administrative Assistant to Family and Pastoral Care that the date for the wedding is available on the church calendar. (must be a church member, family member of a member, or regular attendee of Pikes Peak Christian Church)
  • Upon verifying the date is open the Administrative Assistant to Family and Pastoral Care will contact the Wedding Coordinator with the couple’s information.
  • The Wedding Coordinator will meet with the couple to get information, review guidelines, prices and start to help plan the wedding. ($50 deposit will be collected on this first meeting)
  • The bride and groom, with Wedding Coordinators help, should schedule an interview with the minister at an early date, four months prior to the wedding if possible. It is recognized that a church wedding is an act of worship and the minister will work with the bride and groom in preparing a marriage service which will be spiritually meaningful to them.
  • The following requirements have been made by the minister to emphasize the importance of your marriage.
  • 1: Mandatory pre-marriage counseling needs to be taken, either here or another site approved by the Pastoral Care Department. Premarital Counseling at Pikes Peak Christian Church consists of at least 4 sessions with one of our counselors.  The counselor may recommend more sessions based on your situation.  These counseling sessions will take place in the Care Center and there is a $20 per session fee.
  • 2: One or two sessions with the minister must take place along with the pre-marriage counseling.
  • If you desire floral decorations, make sure your florist will deliver the flowers at least one hour prior to the scheduled ceremony.  You are REQUIRED to use a carpet runner if you are planning to use real flower petals for the flower girl.
  • You are requested to bring the rings and marriage license to the rehearsal, so that the necessary information can be added prior to the ceremony. Following the wedding ceremony the minister and two witnesses must sign the document.
  • For those using the building we do request conduct and dress appropriate for a worship service in the House of God. It is the policy of Pikes Peak Christian Church that there be NO Smoking anywhere in the building and NO Alcoholic Beverage ON PREMISES. Rice and birdseed must be distributed AFTER the ceremony and only used OUTSIDE.
  • When decorating any part of the building, please consult with the wedding coordinator, before affixing tape, adhesives, tacks, or nails to any walls, floors, or furnishings.
  • Please have someone designated to remove all decorations and personal property, especially if your reception is held off-site. The church building will be locked one hour after your ceremony or reception concludes or additional time will be charged.
  • Furniture will be moved by our custodian staff. Please do not remove any thing without the expressed permission of a staff member. If you have special seating arrangements or required seating please inform the Wedding coordinator before the rehearsal so the custodian can be notified.
  • The wedding coordinator will have the church opened one hour prior to the scheduled ceremony time and will remain onsite during the ceremony and one hour after the ceremony ends for clean up. Any additional time will be charged accordingly.
  • Fees for the assistance rendered by various staff members are to be paid two weeks prior to the wedding, and should be delivered to the Wedding coordinator in the form of cash or check.
  • Brass candelabras are available for an additional fee. The candelabras use special drip proof candles and are the only candles approved for long-term lighting during our ceremony. You do not have to use the candelabras, but please note that no other candles will be allowed other than the Unity candle which must be provided by the Bride and Groom.
  • There is no dancing permitted.
